This article reports on work done by Labor Dynamics Institute Executive Director Lars Vilhuber and Director John M. Abowd, Associate Director for Research and Methodology and Chief Scientist, U.S. Census Bureau, as part of a team with colleagues at the US Census Bureau and Duke University.
The team developed new methods that enable people to learn as much as possible from Census data, while guaranteeing that the information cannot be traced back to an individual or business.
