ILR's Art Wheaton Awarded by Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning

This week, Director of Western New York Labor and Environmental Programs Art Wheaton, was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his work with The Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning and the Monroe County Department of Health. 

Elizabeth McDade, Program Manager for the Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning, was once a trainee at the Lead Remodeler Renovator Initial training offered by The Worker Institute via the Monroe County Department of Health. After meeting Elizabeth while teaching the course, Art invited her back to numerous trainings to share information with trainees on Rochester's rules and regulations dealing with lead safety.

Art Wheaton has been teaching the Renovation, Remodeling, and Painting (RRP) Initial and refresher classes for several years now, and has been involved in the project for more than 5 years. He also works on related projects with the Green and Healthy Homes Initiative in Buffalo, New York.

The Worker Institute offers many courses on Lead Based Paint, Mold, Indoor Air Quality, and other health and safety issues through the Workplace Health and Safety Program, providing public and on-site workshops for management, labor unions, and the public. This program serves approximately 2,500 students per year with instruction on technical health and safety concerns including our USEPA-certified lead–based paint training programs.
