Worker Institute Researcher Elected to NYAAPOR Council

Michael Lenmark, Ph.D., Senior Research Support Specialist at the Worker Institute, has just been elected as the Associate Secretary-Treasurer for NYAAPOR, the New York chapter of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR). In his position, Dr. Lenmark will be responsible for the oversight and reporting of the chapter’s finances.

“This will be an incredible opportunity to lead the organization that has been central to my development as a researcher,” said Dr. Lenmark. “It was through NYAAPOR that I realized that I wanted a career in conducting applied research to produce actionable insights for the public good.”

Dr. Lenmark has taken on this Executive Council position after being an active member of NYAAPOR for the past five years, organizing its annual Student Research Competition in collaboration with the Pennsylvania-New Jersey chapter and providing technical support for the chapter’s online educational programming.

“We are thrilled and excited for Michael’s leadership in this new role with NYAAPOR,” said Anne Marie Brady, Ph.D., Director of Research for Worker Rights and Equity at the Worker Institute.

Dr. Lenmark’s current projects at the Worker Institute make use of the expertise he has developed in public opinion and survey methodology. He has led the methodological development and analysis of the Empire State Poll, the ILR School’s annual survey of labor and employment across New York State. He is also developing a study on sexual harassment and labor unions, as well as a survey on working conditions among last mile delivery drivers.
