Overview

New York is falling behind the climate targets mandated by the 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). The state has only accomplished 23% of its 40% emissions reduction by 2030 goal, and it is unlikely to reach its 70% renewable electricity by 2030 target. The state needs to act more quickly to meet the ambitious CLCPA goals. In a landscape where the federal government divests away from renewable energy and undermines landmark worker rights, New York must do all it can to significantly and equitably reduce emissions and create and protect high-quality union jobs.

This event will feature a presentation of key findings from the Climate Jobs Institute's forthcoming report, "Key Interventions: How New York Can Still Achieve Its Climate, Jobs and Equity Mandates." The report identifies ten immediate interventions the state can implement to meet climate targets, build worker power and advance efforts to address historic environmental injustice.

Join us for a lively discussion with state legislators, labor leaders and environmental advocates on how New York can implement these interventions to accomplish the goals of the CLCPA and continue to lead the nation in building an equitable green economy.
