In a recent tabulation of nationwide college policy debate judging data, Cornell director of policy debate Armands Revelins was listed as the judge who has judged the 2nd most number of college policy debate rounds nationwide. This is out of a list of 1569 judges and covers a 10 year history (ever since tabroom.com started logging official tournament round data). The second-place ranking was indicated by Rob Glass (policy debate coach at the University of Houston), who comprehensively considered judge data on tabroom.com. As of the date of this news article, Armands has now judged 568 debates. Out of the rounds Armands has judged so far, 137 of those rounds were elimination round debates with a panel of judges late in the tournament, where each judge must independently submit their decision before the majority decision is known. For those elim debates, Armands was in the majority decision 119 out of 137 times (85.6%). Armands continues to be a coach and judge with a high amount of experience with college policy debates as they are deployed in real-time tournament settings, and is a preferred judge by many competitors in the community!
