Huge Policy Successes Over Winter Break!

This January, the Policy Debate Squad went on a whirlwind tour of the nation, competing in four tournaments in just three weeks!

We started at Cal Swings, two back-to-back tournaments at UC Berkeley. David Rooney and Gabriella Knight advanced to octofinals at one of the most difficult tournaments of the year!

We then flew across the country to Annapolis, Maryland, and competed at the Naval Academy tournament. The awards were as follows:

Semifinalists Lindsey Dahms and Darren Chang
Quarterfinalists Naomi Li and Shara Safer
Octofinalists Basia Van Buren and Amber Tan

2nd Speaker Lindsey Dahms
3rd Speaker Darren Chang
4th Speaker Shara Safer

Finally, we flew to Indiana, and got in one last tournament before the start of classes. Kudos to 4th Speaker Beverly Balasu, and a huge congratulations to JV tournament champions, Basia Van Buren and Naomi Li!

Thank you for everyone who gave up their hard-earned relaxation to travel the nation with us, and a gigantic thanks to everyone who didn’t get the chance to compete, but still forwent their rest to help our competitors do research and prepare for their rounds.
