Cornell Speech dominates during the Virginia is for Lovers Speech Invitational

Speech finishes 3rd at JMU and 1st at GMU during its double header in Virginia.

In early October, Cornell’s Speech team was incredibly successful at the Virginia is for Lovers Speech invitational with two swings, one held in Harrisburg, Virginia at James Madison University, and the other at George Mason University in Fairfax County, Virginia.

At James Madison University, in the for After Dinner Speaking category, Ilan Gilenson ranked 4th place, in Communication Analysis, Eva Egeghy placed for 5th and in Duo Interpretation, Isabella Ireland ranked lst and Hannah Quigley in 8th place. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Eva Egeghy ranked 3rd place, followed by Rushika Prasad in 4th, and lan Gilenson in 6th. For Impromptu Speaking, Rushika Prasad ranked 2nd place. In the Informative Speaking category, Isabella Ireland placed  4th, while Byron Quevedo was in 5th. In Poetry Interpretation Jaliah Smith ranked in 3rd place, and last but not least, for the Program Oral Interpretation (POI), Hannah Quigley finished in 3rd place, while also placing as 4th best in the tournament overall! 

All in all, Cornell’s Speech team finished as 3rd best team at JMU!

Moving on to the George Mason results, in After Dinner Speaking, Ilan Gilenson ranked 5th best, while in Communication Analysis, Eva Egeghy finished in 3rd place, followed by Rushika Prasad in 5th. In the Duo Interpretation category, Isabella Ireland placed at 4th, with Hannah Quigley at 8th place. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Rushika Prasad ranked 2nd place, followed by Isabella Ireland in 4th. The Impromptu Speaking resulted in Eva Egeghy in 1st place, Rushika Prasad in 2nd, and Ian Gilenson in 3rd place. For Poetry Interpretation, Jaliah Smith ranked Ist and in Program Oral Interpretation (POI), Hannah Quigley in 4th place. Lastly, in the Prose Interpretation category, Jaliah Smith resulted in 1st place, followed consecutively by Hannah Quigley in 2nd place.

Overall, Cornell’s Speech team ranked 1st place for the whole GMU tournament!
