Cornell's British Parliament team dominates at the University of Rochester
Winning the Novice Division, advancing 7/8 teams to elimination rounds, and taking home 8/10 top speaker awards - Cornell BP Team is on fire!
From November 7th-9th, Cornell Worlds (British Parliamentary) Debate Team competed at the Brad Smith Memorial Debate Tournament, hosted by the University of Rochester. Across both the Open and Novice divisions, 7 out of 8 competing Cornell teams advanced to elimination rounds. In the Novice Division, the team of Neal Goturi & Sebastian Rajguru won Novice Finals, earning the Brad Smith Memorial Debate Novice title. In the Open division, three teams (Eamin Ahmed & Soren Jensen, Emir Icyer & Benjamin Vigueras, Haider Rizvi & Abhay Gupta) competed in semi-final rounds.
Additionally, these debaters showcased their individual talent, earning 8 of the 10 top speaker spots at the tournament. These top speakers included: Abhay Gupta, Soren Jensen, Adrian Young, Haider Rizvi, Benjamin Vigueras, Barron Ren, Michelle Fan, and Jayesha Sharma.
After these monumental successes, the Cornell BP team is heading back to Cornell to prepare for the rest of their season.
