Policy Team wins University of Houston national tournament
Policy Team heads across the country to debate in Houston, closing out the Novice league and winning several Speaker Awards on the way.
From October 14th through 16th, the Cornell Policy Debate Team attended the University of Houston national tournament. This tournament welcomed teams from all over the country, creating some new competition.
In the Junior Varsity division, Ben Casella ranked 3rd Best Speaker in the tournament. In the Novice division, teams comprising Piper Kohlenberger and Mia Barratt, as well as Sarah Thacker and Logan Hanchett were Novice champions, as both teams won in the semi-finals that was followed by a Cornell closeout in the finals. Another novice team, Noor Jehan Ahmad and Matthew Dye, were Novice quarter-finalists. Piper Kohlenberger won Best Speaker overall, and Mia Barratt won 3rd Best Speaker.
Next week, policy is headed to West Point Military Academy!
