Study background

Most people take for granted that they can have packages delivered to their doorstep with just a few clicks on their phone. As the demand for last-mile delivery services continues to increase, parcel delivery has become one of the fastest growing jobs in the U.S..

Researchers from the Institute for Compensation Studies at Cornell University want to understand how different companies organize the work and attract drivers. We hope to learn more about working conditions, hours, pay, and benefits at different firms.

We are interviewing drivers and managers to get the on-the-ground perspective about the challenges and opportunities in the last-mile delivery industry.

Your insights are invaluable to us, and we would greatly appreciate your participation.

If you have questions about this research, please email us at lastmiledelivery@cornell.edu.

ICS Research

The Institute for Compensation Studies conducts research projects that examine pay and other kinds of compensation for work. Our research may be general or specific to an industry. Projects may cover a specific kind of working contract, such as hourly work, on-call contracting, or executive pay, where company equity is part of compensation design. Our effort is to look at change as well as the organizational causes and effects of compensation practices that have outcomes for individuals and societies.
