The Quinn School is located in a state-of-the-art facility on UCD's Belfield campus. The Quinn building has a wireless network and students at UCD are required to use laptops in all of their classes. Students have the option of bringing their personal laptop with them to UCD or leasing a laptop once you get to campus.
UCD laptops are loaded with the Microsoft Student Suite including Learn, Chill & Play software. The laptop will be pre-registered and include the latest anti-virus software.
If you elect to bring your own laptop, you will be asked to complete a computer registration form before you leave the Cornell campus. This form will be sent to UCD so they have your laptop information when you arrive. Once on campus, you must register your laptop with one of UCD's IT Centre's. The support technicians will configure your laptop during orientation to ensure you have full access to resources on the UCD campus and to see that the correct anti-virus and security software is installed. Your registration will be activated within 24 hours. There are no public desktop computers available to students at the Quinn School.
All laptops must have the most up-to-date anti-virus software and security updates installed at all times or your laptop will be removed from the UCD network. Auto updates are usually displayed as a pop up on your taskbar. These updates solve errors in software and improve security. You should always accept these security Auto Updates.
UCD has over 700 wireless hotspots on campus, including in the residence halls, for your convenience.
