Shops

There are several shops run by the Students' Union located in the Library, the Science Building, Engineering Building & Earlsfort Terrace.  These stores sell stationery, food, baked goods, newspapers, etc.  There is also a supermarket in the Merville residences.

Business Hours of the Students' Union Shops:

  • Library Building:  9:00am-9:00pm
  • Science Building: 9:00am-5:00pm
  • Kiosk, Student Centre: 8:30am-6:00pm
  • Earlsfort Terrace: 9:00am-5:00pm
  • Engineering Building: 9:00am-2:00pm
  • Merville Supermarket: 8:00am-10:00pm

Bike Shop

UCD has an on-campus bike shop where you can purchase new or used bicycles and accessories.  They also offer bike repair services and bike rentals.  They are located at Belfield House just opposite the athletic track.  Their business hours are:  Monday-Friday 9:00am-6:00pm and Saturday: 10:00am-2:00pm.

Campus Book Store

The campus book store sells a wide variety of required texts.  Only new books are sold here.  Their business hours are: 

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 9:00am-9:00pm
  • Tuesday, Friday: 9:00am-5:30pm
  • Saturday: 9:00am-1:00pm

Barber Shop

UCD's on-campus barber shop is located in the UCD Sports Centre.  Its business hours are:  Monday-Saturday, 10:00am-5:30pm.

Copy Shop

Printing and photocopying services are available in the Library and the Arts/Human Science Building as well as at the Quinn School.  The copy shop is open Monday-Friday: 9:00am-5:30pm.

Second Hand Bookshop

The Education of the Students' Union runs the Second Hand Bookshop where used books can be bought and sold.  They are located on the ground floor of the Student Centre.

Pharmacy

UCD has an onsite pharmacy located in the Student Centre.  Its operating hours are:  9:30am-5:00pm.

Post Office

There is a post office located on the ground floor of the Library.  There are three daily mail collections:  11:00am, 3:30pm and 7:30pm, Monday-Friday.

Banking

There is a branch of Allied Irish Banks (AIB) on-campus.  AIB has a designated Student Officer and are recommended by UCD not only for its convenience but also because the staff are accustomed to the requirements of students.

Bank hours are:  10:00am-12:30pm and 1:30-4:00, with late hours on Thursday until 5:00pm.

There are also several ATM machines on-campus located throughout the campus including one at the Central shop at the Merville Residences and one at the rear of the Student Centre.

Please note, ATMs often offer better exchange rates than banks, bureau de changes, or even American Express, however, many banks limit the amount of money you can take from an ATM in a single day.  They may also charge you a transaction fee. Therefore, you should contact your bank to confirm fee charges and verify limits or to have the limit raised if you are planning on using ATMs as your main source of banking.  You should always plan ahead if you are going to need a large sum of money for any reason.

Laundry Facilities

A laundry facility is attached to the student residences, providing full washing, ironing and dry cleaning facilities.
