Overview

In her new book, Why Fascists Fear Teachers, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten highlights the importance of educators and labor unions in the fight to protect and preserve fundamental freedoms and democratic rights. Weingarten is one of the most outspoken national labor leaders who recognizes the nature and severity of the current political moment. She believes American democracy now faces an existential threat from authoritarianism and knows that public education and organized labor are essential elements of a democratic future.

This event is co-hosted by the Scheinman Institute, the Worker Institute, Labor Leadership Initiatives, and the ILR Alumni Association's Labor Rights & Social Justice Council.
