Department Chair Adds Role

Professor Lee Dyer will serve as acting director of the Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies this month through January while Associate Professor Chris Collins, director of the center since 2008, takes a sabbatical.

"I couldn't think of a better fit than Lee to act as CAHRS director in my absence – especially since he played a key role in its foundation in the 1980s," Collins said. "Dyer continues to remain involved in the organization, working with members on current HR issues during CAHRS events such as partner meetings and guest lectures."

Dyer said he looks forward to serving in the interim role. "It is my distinct pleasure to step in for Chris while he takes a much-deserved sabbatical leave."

"As a member of the CAHRS Advisory Board, I have kept abreast of the center's operations and Chris and I have been and will continue to be in close contact during the transition."

Dyer served as CAHRS director from 1988 to 1995. Currently, he is chair of the ILR School's Department of Human Resource Studies.

Dyer's teaching and research interests focus on organization and work design, organizational agility and workforce agility. He has authored or coauthored 13 books and has published in many of the leading journals of the field.

Dyer was inducted into the National Academy of Human Resources in 1994 and received the Academy of Management Human Resource Division's Herbert G. Heneman Jr. Career Achievement Award in 2003. He received the Society for Human Resource Management's Michael R. Losey Research Award in 2004.
