HR in Hospitality
Several ILR professors are speaking at the HR in Hospitality Conference & Expo in Scottsdale, Ariz., this week.
Harry Katz, the Jack Sheinkman Professor of Collective Bargaining, and Assistant Professor Rachel Aleks are panelists in a discussion today on “Working With Unions for Success.”
The session is expected draw hundreds of attendees from hospitality industry sectors to examine the union-management relationship and how hospitality employers have worked with unions to improve guest service and productivity.
Kevin Hallock, the Kenneth F. Kahn Dean and Joseph R. Rich Professor of Economics and Human Resource Studies, will moderate a plenary session Wednesday entitled “The Minimum Wage Movement: Where Is It? Where Is It Going? What Does It Mean?”
The “new normal” for the minimum wage and implications of the “Fight for $15” campaign will be discussed.
The conference, aimed at professionals in HR management, employment law and labor relations in the hospitality industry, continues through Wednesday.
This year, the conference program was developed and sponsored by the ILR School and the Cornell School of Hotel Administration.
