King-Shaw Hall Dedication
University officials, alumni leaders and Cornell faculty, students and staff will gather Thursday for the unveiling of Patricia G. and Rubén Jose King-Shaw, Jr. ILR '83 Hall. King-Shaw Hall will house ILR's conference center.
The dedication begins at 4 p.m. at the center’s Garden Avenue entrance. President Emeritus Frank Rhodes and Harry Katz, ILR's Kenneth F. Kahn Dean, will deliver remarks. The event is open to the public.
A Cornell trustee and current chairperson of the ILR Advisory Council, Rubén is managing partner of Mansa Equity LLC. He and Patricia, owner of Monument Style in Concord, Mass., have been long-time supporters of Cornell and ILR.
"Rubén has been a trusted advisor, a tireless volunteer leader and an outstanding ambassador for ILR and its mission," Katz says.
"The King-Shaw gift will help us continue providing the very best ILR educational experience for our students in the years ahead, and I know that's something Rubén and his family are committed to, as well."
Rubén says giving back in this way is especially meaningful since ILR and Cornell "profoundly shaped the course of his life." His family hopes that its support will help ILR and Cornell continue to advance their critical missions.
