Rigorous, Relevant Research
ILR Associate Professor Bradford Bell has added another line to his resume: editor of the academic journal, Personnel Psychology.
After serving as its associate editor for three years, Bell began in the new post Jan 1.
The journal publishes original empirical research, theory development, meta-analytic reviews and narrative literature reviews on a diversity of topics, including:
- job analysis
- selection and recruiting
- training and development
- performance appraisal and feedback
- strategic human resource management
- global and cross-cultural issues
- organizational climate
- work attitudes and behaviors
- motivation, teams and leadership.
The journal’s impact factor -- based on the extent to which articles in the journal are cited by researchers -- places it in the top quartile in both the applied psychology and management fields, Bell said.
"I am honored to serve in this role because Personnel Psychology has a long history of publishing impactful research that is both scientifically rigorous and practically relevant," Bell said in an interview.
"The journal covers all areas of human resources and organizational behavior and publishes a wide range of different types of articles. A hallmark of all of our articles is that they not only advance science, but also address the critical challenges that organizations are facing today."
Personnel Psychology is available in more than 9,000 institutions worldwide.
After his promotion to editor, Bell appointed four new associate editors. One of them is Associate Professor John Hausknecht, Bell's fellow faculty member in ILR's Human Resource Studies Department.
