Workers United President at ILR
Workers United President Bruce Raynor '72 will visit ILR on Oct. 22 and 23.
He will speak in three undergraduate classes, meet with faculty and graduate students, and talk with activist students.
Workers United represents 150,000 workers in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada who work in the laundry, food service, hospitality, gaming, apparel, textile, retail, manufacturing and distribution industries.
Raynor's schedule at ILR includes an 11:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m Oct. 22 meeting with Professor Lowell Turner's "Politics of the Global North" class and Assistant Professor Kati Griffith's "Labor and Employment Law" class. The topic will be "Unions, the Obama administration and labor law reform."
From 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Oct. 22, he will meet with Professor Richard Hurd's "Labor Union Administration and Strategic Leadership" class. The topic will be union democracy and the Workers United and Unite Here controversy.
Unite Here represents workers throughout the United States and Canada who work in the hospitality, gaming, food service, manufacturing, textile, laundry, and airport industries.
From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22, Raynor will meet with Labor Education Research Director Kate Bronfenbrenner and the Cornell Organization for Labor Action, a student group.
From 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 23, he will meet with ILR faculty and graduate students.
