November 2025 Highlights
Campus-to-Career for Vets with Disabilities
Did you know that about half of all returning U.S. veterans have a disability? To assist and inspire student veterans with moving from college into the workforce, the Yang-Tan Institute has created Combat2Careers, a free website with two “toolkits”: Veterans Campus to Careers helps veterans consider career decisions and needs, while Counselors Campus to Careers informs higher-ed counselors about assisting veterans with disabilities. The site was funded by a grant from Kessler Foundation.
Stress-Busting in the Workplace
Stress Awareness Day happens every November, and it’s a handy reminder to reflect on what stress is, how to stay ahead of it, and why one person’s overwhelming day is another person’s easy glide. It’s also a reminder to consider how to improve workplace accessibility around stress. For more, read our full article about Stress-Busting in the Workplace and see our Stress Awareness Resources.
Balancing Work, Life, and Disability
The theme of stress, highlighted above, leads to thoughts about how people with disabilities handle work-life balance. For more on that – including videos of workers with disabilities sharing their stories – visit Balancing Work, Life, and Disability, a website based on research led by LaWanda Cook, senior training and technical assistance associate at the Yang-Tan Institute. The research included a survey of competitively employed people with a variety of disabilities, examining workplace experiences and work-life balance. The site has plain-language briefs, such as Staying at Work: Policies and Strategies that Support Workers with Disabilities, that share some of the key findings.

Can an employer ask a job applicant or employee if they have a disability? How do I best support a job seeker or employee in making the best choice about disclosing a disability?
