Inclusive Career Advancement Program – Disability Innovation Fund
Overview
In partnership with Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation, Oregon Commission for the Blind (OCB), and community colleges across Oregon, the Yang-Tan Institute implements an inclusive career pathways program for recipients of Vocational Rehabilitation services in Oregon.
The Inclusive Career Advancement Program (ICAP) leverages Oregon’s previous statewide success with career pathways for other populations, including integrated education and wraparound support, to advance educational and economic outcomes for people with disabilities, including those from marginalized populations.
Project activities
ICAP Community College Career Coaches and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors team up to provide individualized, wraparound support to each participant in the following areas:
- Choosing a career pathway of interest
- Accessing postsecondary education
- Exploring internships in high-demand career fields
- Obtaining credentials in their chosen career field
- Obtaining employment upon completion of their program
The Yang-Tan Institute contributes with these activities:
- Providing training and technical assistance to ICAP program implementors
- Evaluating program implementation and performance to document the efficacy of specific practices and strategies
