Paolo Marinaro
Paolo is a labor rights expert in U.S.-Mexico relations with 10 years of experience managing projects related to trade union development and strengthening. Since 2021, Paolo has held the position of Country Program Director for the Solidarity Center in Mexico. He oversees a team of 45 highly skilled professionals from Mexico, Latin America, Europe, and the US. Together, they offer organizing training, strategic corporate research, communication strategies, legal advice, and international solidarity to support the democratic labor movement in Mexico. Over the past three years, Paolo and his team have provided support to more than 25,000 workers in their efforts to establish independent and democratic unions, resulting in significant advancements in collective bargaining. The Solidarity Center Mexico Program has spearheaded groundbreaking grassroots campaigns, including the GM Silao campaign, the successful fight for freedom of association at the Stellantis factory on the US-Mexico border, and the Goodyear organizing campaign in the State of San Luis Potosí. These efforts have achieved historic outcomes, including the implementation of a sectoral bargaining agreement and a direct increase in salaries of up to 30%. Paolo holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and has conducted extensive research at the intersection of gender, migration, and labor rights with a focus on the impact of international free trade agreements on freedom of association and the future of labor relations in North America.
