Lorraine Montemayor
Lorraine Montemayor is the Training and Leadership Development Coordinator for the Texas AFL-CIO, a state labor federation consisting of 240,000 affiliated union members. A skilled union organizer with over a decade of experience in the Texas Labor Movement, Montemayor learned to lead, mobilize and agitate through years of working for Alliance/AFT, a Dallas local of the American Federation of Teachers, and later with the Dallas AFL-CIO. Lorraine joined the staff of the Texas AFL-CIO three years ago and applied her skills to mobilizing statewide union members and Central Labor Bodies around the labor agenda. She contributed to the development of programmatic work in the areas of politics, organizing, and leadership. She has also placed a strong emphasis on building a stronger bolder labor movement in Texas. Lorraine’s passion for training and leadership development is building a powerful new capacity for action in the Texas Labor Movement. Beyond work hours, she participates in a variety of social justice causes alongside her family, another way of helping build a better Texas.
